Since 2009, Naval Energies (formerly DCNS Energies) and EDF Energies Nouvelles have jointly developed projects in tidal turbines, with the shared objective of promoting the development of this energy and the emergence of an industrial sector. The Normandy Hydro project, which consists in the installation and the exploitation for 20 years of a 14MW farm, equipped with 7 Hydro Turbines OpenHydro (subsidiary of DCNS), concretizes this collaboration. This project is a decisive step to validate the technology and business model farms turbines and associated industrial organization, before moving to the industrial stage and the commissioning of the first commercial farms.
